stagg street studio . thom douvan & friends

I've had the pleasure of working with Thom in the past, so it was exciting to hear he was interested in some stills of the recording process as he and his fellow musicians (credited below) work on a new album. They played and I shot at Stagg Street Studio!

Thom plays jazz and soul music, having worked with some of the original Funk Brothers and the studio musicians at Motown.  Thom's music is an eclectic blend of various elements of American roots music:  jazz, soul, folk, and even bluegrass!  Thom's first CD, "So Shall We Learn," will be released in 2008, with his second CD, "The Backstory" following shortly thereafter.

Thom is proud to feature Mitchel Forman on keyboards (who has worked with Mahavishnu Orchestra, Pat Metheny, John Scofield and Mike Stern), Trey Henry on bass (who has worked with Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Flora Purim, Airto, Kenny Burrell and Herbie Hancock), and Michael Barsimanto on drums (who has worked with Billy Preston, Ivan Neville, Jethro Tull, Andy Summers and Freddie Hubbard).  The lovely and talented jazz vocalist, Diane Hubka, will favor us with a Kenny Burrell song he wrote for his wife, "Then I Met You."
