the wedding . mary + jay

the proposal:

"We took a trip to Santa Barbara, where we went wine-tasting for our "first date" two years prior... Before our dinner reservation at the Four Seasons... we waded in the water and goofed around. Jay started writing in the sand "August 5, 2007, I love you," which I didn't think was weird since he had done the same in past times. Then, as I turned around to take my shoes off to truly take advantage of the surf, he was down on one knee! What was particularly cute was that he had asked a little girl to take pictures for him and she was snapping away. Because of this, we have pictures of this momentous occasion."

But let me back up... Jay and Mary attended a Singles/Sushi/Sake party that friends were hosting... They met that evening and Jay proclaimed that one day he'd marry her... Mary's thoughts? "Is this guy for real?"

He was. Three years later they married in the city of their first date, Santa Barbara in front of their closest friends and family...

Since many guests were from out of town; they did something sweet and memorable by having the SB trolley take out-of-towners on a tour of the city during the break between ceremony and reception. Such a thoughtful and unique way to pamper their guests... It was a hit!!!
